Tufted Titmouse (Baeolophus bicolor)

titmouse.jpg

Another really "cute" bird, Tufted Titmouse can be seen year-round in Waldo. Tiny and grey with a pointed crest and large curious eyes. A frequent guest at feeders, they will take one seed at a time, crack it open with their plumpsharp beaks and carry the nutmeat to a hoarding site. Tufted Titmouse is capable if hanging upside-down or moving sideways along trees while foraging. They nest in previously excavated cavities, so installing a nest box in your yard will help attract them.
