House Sparrow (Passer domesticus)

House Sparrow is also known as Old World Sparrow. Introduced to New York, New York in the 1850's, House Sparrow has spread throughout North America and is now one of the most common birds to be seen. With little fear of humans, they thrive around cities and towns. They will best in buildings, street signs, rooftops and sometimes trees. Mostly seed eaters, but will feed insects to the young. Hoppers not walkers. House Sparrow might be seen taking a dirt bath.
